Aims
To increase knowledge and awareness with regard to:
- The Children Act 1989 and the Department of Health Working Together Documents, including 'The Framework for Assessing Children in Need and their Families' DOH 2000
- Teaching PCT and Area Child Protection Committee and child protection procedures
- Individuals' roles and responsibilities
- Ethical Issues and Dilemmas
- Child protection within a multi-cultural community
- Professional beliefs and myths of statutory services and child protection procedures
- Effects of personal belief system on clinical/child protection judgements

Target Audience
Staff who deal with members of the Public, but do not have children as their clients/patients, Support Staff within the Community & Primary Care, e.g. Receptionist, Admin & Clerical Staff, Practice Managers, District Nurses, Staff working within Care of the Elderly, any new member of staff with no previous knowledge or experience of Child Protection, General Managers.
