Safeguarding Children - Policies, Guidance & Audit
Policy and Guidance
Protecting children from harm and promoting their wellbeing is everyone's business.
In order to help staff to do this within a clear framework, they should refer to the Trust child protection practice
guidance, and the
All London Child Protection Procedures
Summary of Child Protection Policy
In summary, there are three key issues for practice that keeps children safe from harm:
- Everyone, whatever their job or who they work with, has a responsibility for protecting children from harm and promoting their welfare.
- If you have a concern, discuss it with your team, supervisor, social worker and/or the child protection advice team.
- When you believe a child is or may be being harmed, you must ensure that a referral to children and family social services is made. This should usually be done in the knowledge of the child's parents, but not necessarily with their consent.
